  1. Is it OK to attend Self-access Center sessions without reservation?

It is not possible to attend the sessions without making a reservation. In order to offer more effective sessions, there are a limited number of seats available for the sessions.

  1. How can a reservation be made to attend SAC Session?

Reservations can be made one day before the session time on the reservation link https://sac.asbu.edu.tr/. Reservations are made daily, so making a reservation for other days is not possible.

  1. How can a student use the Self-access online reservation system?

In order to use the Online Reservation System, the student must log in with his ID number in the Username section and the ASBU student mail address password in the password section on https://sac.asbu.edu.tr/. Students can get ASBU mail passwords from https://asbusifre.asbu.edu.tr/. On the same webpage, foreign students must enter their ID numbers starting with 99 after entering their names as written on the ID. If a student can’t make a reservation, s/he can contact IT Department.

  1. How many sessions can a student make reservations for in a day maximum?

Each student can book up to 2 sessions on the same day.

  1. What happens if a student does not attend a session that s/he has made a reservation for?

It is obligatory to attend the sessions that you make reservations. If you do not attend a session that you have booked, your name will be reported to the relevant departments. If you do this twice, you will not be permitted to attend SAC sessions for two weeks.

  1. Is it possible for a student to book a room for a whole day?

A student can book a SAC room for 2 hours per day. After two hours, s/he can make another reservation by checking availability.

  1. In what platform can students get access to the weekly SAC Schedule?

Students can get access to the weekly schedule on the link sac.asbu.edu.tr, SAC social media accounts and billboards in the School of Foreign Languages Building.

  1. What information is included in the weekly SAC Schedule?

Session name, moderator, proficiency level, date, time, venue and capacity.

  1. Can a student attend sessions that are higher or lower than his/her proficiency level?

No, a student cannot attend sessions for higher or lower levels. The sessions are prepared using content and methods suitable for a specific level.

  1. What qualities are required to be a SAC student moderator?

It requires five qualities: good communication skills, language competence, time management skills and good rapport with other students.

  1. How can students apply to work part-time at SAC?

Students should apply to ASBÜ Department of Health, Culture and Sports.

  1. How can students find a resource for a specific proficiency level in SAC?

The materials in SAC are categorized based on English proficiency level and skill. After determining the type of resources, students should go to the shelves labeled to the level. Students can apply to SAC Counter for more information.

  1. Is there a reservation system at SAC?

No. There is no reservation system at SAC. SAC Materials cannot be taken out.

  1. How can Preparatory School students consult SAC Student staff?

SAC student staff are the ones who have experienced a similar language learning process and successfully completed the English Preparatory program.  Prep School students can consult their academic questions and problems to them whenever they need. Students can also consult them about learning methods and materials, and ask for advice for learning English.
