**** What are the details about the additional Proficiency Exam, which will be conducted in July?

As mentioned before, there will be another English Proficiency Test on July 22 & 23. The exam content will be the same as the June 18-19 EPE (with all four skills (Reading, Listening, Speaking & Writing) being assessed).

We will provide an intense Exam preparation period, lasting 40 hours, which will be conducted Online free of charge, during two weeks between 6-17 of July, before the June 22-23 English Proficiency Test (EPE) is conducted. As was the case with the intense course conducted at the end of May and June, the lessons will be synchronous, but also they will be uploaded in the Google Classrooms as asynchronous.

The course will start two weeks prior to the English Proficiency exam during the weekdays. The lessons wıll start on July 6 and will continue until July 17, 2020. The program and the hours will be announced later on our website under FAQ Covid-19 and there will be an online form inquiring about your willingness to attend to this course.

As you know, in order to be included in the Google Classrooms, you need to use your ASBÜ student e-mail accounts (ending with ….@asbu.edu.tr). We will not be communicating through your personal e-mails. The communication will be established only through your ASBÜ student e-mail accounts. If you are still having problems with your e-mail accounts, please use sifre@asbu.edu.tr or send a properly written e-mail to ali.eren@asbu.edu.tr to solve your problems with your accounts.

**** How can I reach the information about the Proficiency Exam, which will be conducted at the end of the academic year?

  • Our University has decided to conduct the English and Arabic Proficiency Exams online dues to the Covid-19 pandemic as recommended by the Council of Higher education. English Proficiency exam will be conducted on June 18-19, 2020 and the Arabic proficiency exam will be conducted on June 18, 2020.
  • English Proficiency Exam will be conducted on June 18 and 19, 2020. On the 18th, the first part (Reading, Listening, and Writing) and on the 19th the second part (Speaking) of the Proficiency exam will be conducted.   
  • The written part of the exam will be conducted on a digital platform and the students will be taking the parts on reading, listening, and writing skills.
  • The speaking part will be carried out via the Zoom application.

  • Arabic Proficiency Exam will be carried out on June 18, 2020
  • All skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking) will be tested on the same day.

  • In order to take the exam, you will need a computer, laptop, or tablet (using smartphones for such an exam is not recommended- it is highly recommended that you use a computer, laptop, or tablet), a good internet connection, and headphones are required. Also for the speaking part, a computer or a tablet, a good internet connection, and Zoom (already installed in your device) and headphones are strictly needed.
  • All the other details regarding the time table and the rules you need to follow will be shared both on our SFL Website and Google-Classrooms.

**** For the students who do not have the necessary equipment/devices and/or internet connection, our University provides opportunities both in our Library and Computer lab.

**** What are the rules and regulations, and the details about the proficiency exam that will be conducted during the times of Covid-19 pandemic?

**** Do I have to take the Proficiency conducted on June 18-19, 2020?

In order to achieve the Prep program and continue your studies in your department, you need to take and pass the Proficiency exam. This proficiency exam tests your skills to prove that you are eligible to study in your departments. If you do not want to take the exam conducted by ASBÜ SFL, you can take other exams (the list of these exams can be found in rules and regulations) and submit the results of these exams to the ASBÜ SFL administration.

You can also take the English/Arabic Proficiency exam which will be conducted at the beginning of the 2020-2021 academic year.

 

**** I was not able to save and submit the Writing part of the English Proficiency Exam conducted online on June 18, 2020, due to the technical problems I experienced. Is there anything I can do about this?

You can download the petition document clicking on the link below and after personally signing it, you need to submit it to the ASBU-SFL Foreign Languages Department in 3 days following the announcement of the results of the EPE. You need to submit it in person or via fax. E-mails will not be accepted as a formal request.
